In place of the previously scheduled Combined Societies dance on 10 April 2021, we are delighted to announce the online ‘Spring from Home’, a joint venture from the London Highland Club, St Columba’s Dancers and London Branch.
As for the London Branch Burns Night at Home, ‘Spring from Home’ will feature music, dance, poetry, quizzes, competitions and plenty of online chat. Join us from 5pm on Saturday 10 April 2021 via the now familiar Zoom link. We look forward to your company on 10 April.
For those who are unfamiliar with Zoom we have a short guide.
Contact details for the Combined Societies are:
St Columba’s Dancers – is a group of Scottish Country dancers who meet on Monday evenings from October to May at St Columba’s church hall in Pont street, London. We welcome dancers of all ages and experience and our dance programmes include a wide variety of dances suitable for both new and experienced dancers. We dance to recorded music, but five or six times a year we also enjoy live bands (band nights). Our team of MCs is highly experienced and happy to call or walk-through dances so that everyone may join in. We meet at 7.15pm for a practice session on non-band nights. For more information, please contact Willie Lawrence on 07798 640551 or firstname.lastname@example.org Website: www.stcolumbasdancers.org
Little Ship Club – is a well-established Scottish country dance group who meet at St Columba’s Pont Street on Thursday evenings every three weeks from September to May. We dance a wide variety of dances as well as the more familiar ones. We very often have a musician playing for us, and as a friendly social group we are always willing to welcome new members. It may be helpful to know the basic steps, but most dances are walked through. We break halfway through the evening for a picnic supper that participants bring themselves. Contact Stuart Thom on 0207 924 2081 or email.
London Reels – London Reels meets once per month (September – June) in the lower hall of St Columba’s Church in Pont Street, SW1. This is a fantastic venue which can accommodate over 200 dancers on its large wooden dance floor.
We welcome novice and experienced reelers from around the world of all ages and backgrounds to share in this most beloved of Scottish pastimes.
At London Reels we teach and practise a limited number of dances. Beginners are especially welcome, and we pride ourselves on our ability to convert sceptical first-timers into reeling devotees!
