Ascot pupils enjoy Strictly Scottish Dancing

Over a hundred and sixty pupils from St Mary’s and Papplewick Schools had a “Reel” party  on Saturday ( 7th Feb).  Award winning dancers from the Chelsea based Royal Scottish Country Dance Society provided a superb Demonstration of Scottish Country dancing and helped them through their evening’s energetic fun with dances like Circassian Circle and The Flying Scotsman.

After their favourite Pizza supper there was even a display of some Highland Dancing and time for   the Canadian Barn Dance. They were lucky enough to dance to the live music of Ian Cutts on fiddle and Sandra Smith on keyboard.

Assistant Pastoral Deputy Head of St Mary’s, Emma Cuff,  who helped organize the event said "The RSCDS were the ideal group to lead 160 11-13 year olds! The caller, musicians and dancers were excellent and the children had a wonderful time. Thank you all so much for the professional, enthusiastic way in which you led the evening, it really was superb. I am now trying to think of another event where we can hire you again!"

The RSCDS Team have continued to share their skills and promote Scottish Dancing at various functions, care homes and schools in London throughout January and February. They will be competing nationally at the Newcastle Scottish Country Dance Festival on Saturday 14th February and hope to return with some silverware
